May I suggest you Google & view the 2013 PBS Frontline documentary "The Retirement Gamble". I've viewed it numerous times and it's extremely educational. All of it is in layman's terminiology. The largert, most broadly diversified index fund is ticker symbol "VTI": Vanguard's Total Market ETF Index Fund. It has over $7 trillion in assets and the ultra low expense ratio (mgmt fee) of only .03%, you'll save a fortune on taxes. I wouldn't recommend anything I didn't own a substantial amount of myself. PS. anyone can call themselves a financial advisor and many are to busy trying to acquire a share of your money.
